Serving up Smiles

Just a stone’s throw from the Capitol and the State Office Building in downtown Juneau, Coppa is making smiles every day serving up delicious ice cream. As Juneau’s only homemade ice cream and coffee shop, Coppa is focused on local partnership and Alaskan ingredients to grow their business. The quality of their ingredients and treats is evident from the long list of accolades Coppa has received since opening: best new business and best ice cream shop in 2014 by Juneau Empire’s Reader’s Choice Survey; in 2016, Buzzfeed named Coppa the most popular ice cream shop in Alaska; and in 2017 Coppa won the grand prize in the Alaska Symphony of Seafood with their candied salmon ice cream. In addition to making scrumptious ice cream, Coppa also fosters an inviting environment that stimulates relationships, individuals, and the neighborhood. From featuring local art to creating inventive flavors like birch butter pecan, five pumpkin spice, and vegan jalapeno lime coconut, Marc and Jessica have worked hard to make Coppa a colorful and engaging community space. Customers can even submit their own new ice cream flavor ideas!

Partnership with Spruce Root

In 2014, Coppa was one of three winners in Spruce Root’s Path to Prosperity business competition and received a $40,000 award. They participated in the annual intensive business Boot Camp weekend and deployed their award funding for technical assistance and consulting services to grow their business.
